About Me

Sometimes it’s difficult to put our fingers on how we are feeling, we just know we are not feeling connected to the world or the to people in our world.  Our lives are becoming increasingly busy, with demands coming from many sources, home, children, work, relationships. They all take a little bit of us each day, and without us recognising we don’t put anything back in our little bag of us until that bag is empty and we feel drained, depressed, sad, anxious, or just don’t feel like us.  I was that person who neglected my own journey for the sake of others, always putting others first and always making excuses for never having time to eat properly or exercise.

I learned that not investing in my own self care and welfare allowed my mental health to suffer, which in turn allowed my physical health to suffer, and I became unwell. I took the brave step of reaching out to a therapist, I look back to those first tentative steps of my therapy journey and I can feel the fear I felt, the not feeling good enough, of admitting that I needed help was the most challenging admission of my life. But it changed my life so much for the better.

So, after almost thirty years of working in the public sector, I embarked upon a period of retraining where I obtained a First-Class Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Professional Practice).  I have a passion for empowering others, for supporting you in your journey of discovery, and walking alongside you while you explore your feelings and emotions.  As a person-centred therapist, I offer an environment built upon trust, respect, and safety. Your space where you are free to discuss without judgment the issues you are working through.

I have a passion for mindfulness and exercise and how small changes in our daily routine can have such a positive impact upon our wellbeing.  Our physical and mental health are so closely aligned that when one is out of sync with the other our wellbeing suffers. I currently work online and telephone. I am also able to offer walk and talk therapy, in a beautiful discreet rural location near to Warrington/St Helens/ M6/M62 Junctions. Fresh air and exercise is proven to allow our minds to open up and offer us growth and wellbeing. A slow amble in the countryside listening to bird song, whilst you are able to talk, allows us to slow down and take in the moment. This allows you, you to connect your physical health and mental health. Which can have a positive effect upon the symptoms of anxiety/depression/stress.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and my practice is underpinned by the BACP ethical framework and good practice guide. This ensures that my practice remains committed to high standards and to ensuring that I am working safely and ethically. I also have monthly supervision with a clinical supervisor. I am fully insured and registered with the ICO.

I am based in the North West, England, but can also offer online or phone sessions for those living further afield.

I specialise in the following areas: I also offer flexibility with appointments for shift workers.

Emergency Services

Loneliness

Grief & Trauma

Depression

Sessions

Person centred therapy is a type of talking therapy, where I provide clients with a safe, non-judgemental space in which to explore their thoughts and feelings.

I offer a wide variety of session formats to suit each client’s individual needs, costing £50 per hour.

I offer an initial, free 15 minute consultation to discuss your expectations and requirements and to determine whether we want to move forward with the therapeutic relationship.

A number of concessionary sessions are available each week, please contact for more details.

Virtual

Sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home, workplace or wherever there is an internet connection.

Phone

Sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home, workplace or wherever there is phone signal.

Walk & Talk

Walking can enhance our well-being, increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety. These sessions are offered in Warrington.

Approach

A client’s first session will begin with a discussion of contracts and boundaries on which the foundations of a strong therapeutic relationship are built.

We will then explore a client’s reasons for starting therapy, establish goals the client wants to achieve and the expectations a client has should they move forward with therapy.

Empathic Understanding

Empathy is understanding the client’s world as they see it. I strive to understand what the client brings into a session to work through that with them in a way that makes the client feel they’ve been understood.

Congruence

Congruence is being real and authentic within the therapeutic relationship. I work to offer a safe place to aid clients to explore their emotions and feelings.

Unconditional positive regard

I work with clients in a way that allows them to navigate their counselling journey in a non-judgmental space.

Trust & Confidentiality

A client’s confidentiality is of paramount importance to a successful therapeutic outcome and the maintenance of boundaries.
